CONDITION

One of the following conditions is present:

Condition 1

^ The 3G MMI does not work: There is no picture, no sound, and no reaction to pressing the control panel buttons.

^ The 3G MMI main unit, address 5F, cannot be accessed via GFF.

Condition 2

^ The 3G MMI sporadically does not work: There is no picture, no sound, and no reaction to pressing the control panel buttons.

^ After a system reset (3 buttons or by itself) or after not driving for a long time, the 3G MMI system functionality returns.

Condition 3

^ The 3G MMI picture freezes, the sound of the last source continues, and pressing the control panel buttons produces no reaction.

^ After a system reset (3 buttons or by itself) or after not driving for a long time, the 3G MMI system functionality returns.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

3G MMI hardware and software-related issues.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

New 3G MMI hardware and new software (ZUG 0114).

SERVICE

If condition 1 occurs, continue with diagnosis. If necessary, check the 3G MMI software level and if necessary update the software by following the

instructions below.

For conditions 2 and 3, update the MMI software by following the instructions below.

Tip: For successful results, the steps must be performed in this sequence.

1. Check 3G MMI system software version

2. Update software of the 3G MMI system

3. Perform feedback documentation to the SVM

1. Check 3G MMI system software version

1. Switch on ignition and wait approximately 1 minute.

617

2. Press the SETUP and RETURN buttons simultaneously and hold both buttons down for about 5 seconds.

If this message is displayed, the system is not yet completely initialized. Wait a few seconds, then press the RETURN button.

3. Read current MMI train (Zug) version.

4. The train (Zug) versions listed in the table below must be updated.

P versions are production build.

K versions are service updates.

2. Update 3G MMI system software

1. Connect an approved Audi battery maintainer/charger to vehicle.

2. Switch off all unnecessary electrical equipment (blower, seat heater, interior light, etc.).

Tip: Also make sure that no electromagnetic interference sources (mobile phone) are operated in or near the vehicle while individual control units

are being updated.

618

Tip: For complete and detailed instructions for the 3G MMI system update, refer to the attached instructions. (Note: The attached instructions are

generic. Some portions may not apply to this specific TSB. Importing and exporting customer code data is not necessary for this 3G MMI update

system.)

3. Insert update CD into the 3G MMI main (head) drive unit located in the center of the instrument panel.

4. Start the software update.

5. After the software update has been performed, confirm the Abort (cancel) documentation" selection. The 3G MMI system will restart. Then

perform the feedback documentation.

3. Perform feedback documentation using SVM:

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

2. Confirm any proposed parameter settings and codings.

3. Then perform test program "5F - Information electronics, resetting fault memory" to clear any faults in the system.

Tip: No control unit is flashed as part of the feedback documentation to the SVM. Do not perform any updates of control units. Do not replace any

control units.
