The Rearview camera control unit, for A4 and A5 vehicles, requires an SVM code to allow for the exchange and online coding using SVM. An SV



Specified vs. Actual comparison will not code the new control unit.

Not applicable.

When replacing the Rearview camera control unit (J772) an SVM coding must be performed using the provided SVM code. This SVM code does



not provide any software updates to the control unit. It only allows the exchange of the original part to the replacement part along with the online



coding.

Vehicle Information



One of the following conditions is present:

^ The vehicle pulls to one side.



^ The suspension height is uneven and the vehicle is crooked.



^ One wheel location of the suspension is stuck in the raised position.



^ The control system cannot be programmed.



^ The following entries may be stored in the level control system control module, J197 (34):



^ DTC 1781 (extremely crooked vehicle position, upper limit exceeded).



^ DTC 1400 (self-leveling control, upper limit exceeded).



Technical Background



The residual pressure holding valve of an air spring may be stuck closed, not allowing the air spring to reduce its height. This valve's function is to



ensure a minimum air spring pressure of 50 psi in the event of a large leak. For example, if an air supply line was severed by road debris, the residual



pressure holding valve would keep the air spring from completely deflating.



Production Solution



Not applicable.



Service



1. Check the tire pressures. If necessary, adjust to the proper pressures. This is important to ensure accurate measurements.



2. Park the vehicle on a level surface. Leave the engine running to ensure full battery voltage for testing.



3. Using the MMI system, raise the suspension to a lifted level. At each wheel location, measure and record the height at the edge of the fender well



(Figure 1).



4. Using the Guided Functions program of the VAS 5051/2 diagnostic tool, bleed the front and rear axles of the air suspension system.



Note:



If a level change via the VAS 5051/2 is not possible, it may be necessary to clear the DTCs to allow the bleeding procedure. In this case,



record the DTCs prior to erasing the faults.



5. Again, measure the height of each wheel location.



If one wheel location remains significantly higher than the others, a residual pressure holding valve may be stuck closed. Replace the suspected



inoperative residual pressure retaining valve following the removal and installation procedure detailed in ELSA. The replacement procedure can



be found in the Removal and installation sections for the front and rear axles.

Battery testing and charging must take place directly at the battery for vehicles that meet all of the following four conditions:



- Batteries are located in the trunk area.



- Jumper posts are located in the engine compartment.



- Vehicle does not have a battery energy manager (BEM).



- Vehicle may or may not have a battery monitoring control module, J367.



Technical Background



Inaccurate test results will occur if the testing and/or charging takes place at the jumper posts in the engine compartment. This is due to the added



resistance in the system between the battery and jumper posts.

1. Connect the tester directly to the battery posts.

Midtronics INC-940 diagnostic charging station:



1. Connect the charging station.



- For vehicles equipped with a battery monitoring control module (J367): Connect the InCharge 940 negative cable where the vehicle's



negative cable connects to J367. J367 is mounted directly to battery negative post.



TIP:



This connection will allow J367 to remain in the loop so that it may provide battery charge data to the Gateway, J533.



- For all other vehicles: Connect the charging station directly to the battery posts.



2. Enter the DIN value listed on the battery.

SITUATION



After operating the front seat easy entry feature, the seat backrest is difficult to recline to its original position.



This may also occur while the customer is sitting in the front seat and tries to recline the backrest.



CAUSE



The easy entry mechanism in the front seat may not have a sufficient amount of lubrication.



CORRECTION



In case of a customer complaint, a grease should be applied to both front seat easy entry mechanisms.



PROCEDURE



Recline the front seat completely to allow access to the easy entry mechanism.



Locate the area on the seat where the mechanism can be accessed. This is area where the seat bottom meets the backrest.



Lift up the seat cover material on the backrest to expose the easy entry mechanism.

Apply a small amount of Wurth True Glide Grease to the mechanism.



Note:



Grease should be applied to both the left and right side mechanisms of each seat.



Operate the easy entry feature by pressing the easy entry handle (1). Then recline the seat backrest and forth several times until the effort level has



improved.

Malfunctions of the fresh air blower could be caused by one or both of the following root causes:



^ A faulty printed circuit board in the fresh air blower control module, J126.



^ The carbon brushes bind in the brush holder and, as a consequence, lose contact with the motor commutator of the fresh air blower, -V2-.

In most cases the replacement of the clutch slave cylinder or master cylinder does not fix the complaint.

Service



Check the clutch hydraulics and electrics as follows:



1. Depress the clutch pedal to the perceived end stop.



On the clutch master cylinder a second mechanic opens the bleeder screw.



2. If the clutch pedal can now be moved further and the vehicle can be started, or the message "Press clutch pedal to start vehicle" in the cluster goes



out, the sender of the clutch mechanism is correct.



3. Close the bleeder screw on the clutch master cylinder.



The complaint is in the clutch mechanism (wear, check according to repair manual). Do not replace the master cylinder or the slave cylinder for this



condition.

CAUSE



The engine wiring harness has chafed through against the starter motor heat shield causing a short circuit.



PROCEDURE



In the event of a customer complaint, check the engine wiring harness near the starter motor heat shield and replace it if necessary. The heat shield



must also be replaced if the engine wiring harness is replaced.



Note:



An improved starter motor heat shield was introduced into production on August 19, 2003&line;

effectuée.

2. Le nettoyage et la lubrification des rails sera fait avec le SAV 6621 et le VAG 1628.



Nettoyage Des Rails De Guidage1. La majeure partie de la vieille graisse, la saleté et les débris seront supprimés comme suit: Insérer le VAS 6621 à l'arrière du rail de guidage (Figure 22, 1), tourner



90�� (Figure 22, 2) et faites-la glisser vers l'avant (Figure 22, 3). Tournez-le de 90�� une fois de plus et de le retirer (Figure 22, 4-5). Nettoyer la vieille



lubrifiant et les débris de l'outil. Répétez cette procédure à partir de l'avant du rail de guidage et faites glisser l'outil vers l'arrière. Effectuer



cette procédure sur les deux côtés.2. Enlever tous les restes de la vieille graisse, la saleté et les débris à l'aide d'un chiffon non pelucheux. À l'aide d'un aspirateur peut aider à se débarrasser de grains de sable, de gravier ou de



d'autres matériaux abrasifs qui pourrait endommager le mécanisme de toit ouvrant.



Lubrification des Rails de guidage:

1. Fil le VAS 6621 outil sur le bidon de lubrifiant (G 060 751 A2). Installation de l'assembly dans le VAG 1628.

2. Insérez le VAS 6621 dans les rails de guidage de la même manière que la procédure de nettoyage et d'injecter de la graisse uniformément le long des rails de guidage.



Effectuer ce sur toute la longueur des rails de guidage et des deux côtés.Nettoyage et Lubrification du Couvercle du Mécanisme de la Couvercles Avant et Arrière:



1. Se déplacer à la fois l'avant et l'arrière du toit ouvrant panneaux à la position de l'évent. Retirez l'ancien lubrifiant, la saleté et les débris à l'aide d'un chiffon non pelucheux.



Astuce: Couvrir l'intérieur du véhicule afin de le protéger contre les chutes de débris.

2. Aérosol de lubrification pâte G 060 751 A3 sur le mécanisme pour l'avant et l'arrière du toit ouvrant de panneaux à la zone indiquée par les flèches dans le



illustration.



3. Nettoyer et lubrifier les plaques de guidage avant et arrière toit ouvrant panneaux. Il sera nécessaire d'appuyer sur la lèvre du joint d'étanchéité en caoutchouc pourexposer les plaques de guidage. Graisser les plaques de guidage avec G 060 751 A3. Assurez-vous que le lubrifiant a pénétré dans les rouleaux.



4. Spray lubrifiant G 060 751 A3 le long du mécanisme de l'arrière du toit ouvrant panneau (Audi Q7) comme le montre la Figure 28.



Le nettoyage et la lubrification de la glisse de l'avant toit:panneau de

1. Nettoyer les lames avec un chiffon non pelucheux. Appliquez du lubrifiant G 060 751 A2 de la glisse avec un pinceau à deux lames.



Le nettoyage et la lubrification des joints d'étanchéité:



1. Nettoyer tous les joints avec un nettoyant tout usage D 009 401 04 et un chiffon non pelucheux.2. Lubrifier tous les joints spéciaux pâte lubrifiante G 052 141 A2 à l'aide d'un pinceau.



Astuce: Pas de pièces doivent être enlevées. Il est seulement nécessaire d'ouvrir complètement le toit ouvrant panneau.

3. Une autre source de bruit peut venir de la le toit ouvrant panneau de garniture. Assurez-vous que l'ensemble de la garniture de toit ouvrant est intact et correctement installé.

4. Mal installé, ou mal ajustés ouvrant des panneaux, à cause de la tension et sont une autre source de bruit. Vérifier et ajuster si nécessaire



à l'aide de ElsaWeb ou reportez-vous à la BST 2018898.5. Un lâche fixation du déflecteur de vent peut être une source de bruit. Reportez-vous à la BST 2012804.



A6/A8



A6/A8:



1. Lubrifier les joints spéciaux pâte lubrifiante G 052 141 A2.

SITUATION



The windshield may become cracked or damaged for a variety of reasons. Although the windshield requires repair or replacement, it is important to



take note of the following guidelines regarding what types of damage may or may not be covered by the MINI New Vehicle Warranty.



CAUSE



Windshield damage is typically caused by one of the following:



1. Outside influence - typically stone chips in nearly all cases



2. Excessive force applied - such as levering out the A-pillar trim

3. Stress crack - due to heavy torsional loads on the vehicle's body or an incorrectly-fitted windshield (least common cause)



PROCEDURE



When evaluating a cracked or damaged windshield to determine whether it is eligible to be claimed under warranty, it is necessary to determine the



root cause of the damage. Reviewing the following possible causes will help to determine the root cause.



Outside Influence



^ An outside influence is responsible for the damage if:



1. One or more chips are present on the outside of the glass along the crack;



2. A crack started from anywhere other than an outside edge.



^ Run a non-permanent felt tip pen or small marker over the length of the damaged area. Even very minor surface damage will be felt.



^ Often when a small stone chip occurs, the subsequent crack takes time to develop, as the vehicle is subject to normal torsional loads or



temperature fluctuations. Any damage due to an outside influence will not be covered under warranty.



Excessive force



^ A windshield may become damaged due to excessive force being applied while performing other repairs, such as levering out the A-pillar trim or



removing a rear view mirror.



^ If the windshield is damaged as a result of excessive force being applied, warranty consideration will not be given.



Stress crack



^ Under very isolated circumstances, a stress crack may form due to a combination of glass position and heavy torsional loads on the body of the



vehicle.



^ These cracks always start from an outside edge of the glass.



^ Most often the cracks begin at one of the corners of the windshield.



^ Stress cracks typically occur within the first year or 10,000 miles of the vehicle's service life.



Additional Notes:



Only OEM MINI windshields may be considered for a warranty claim where a stress crack is the root cause. If a non MINI windshield was installed



in the vehicle, any resulting damage (i.e., cracks, water leaks, etc.) will not be covered. MINI windshields can be identified by a MINI logo stamped



on the glass in one of the lower corners.



If the damage to the glass is due to an outside influence, very often the glass can be repaired as opposed to being replaced. For additional

Starting with the 2008 A5, ElsaWeb provides engine oil extraction instructions only in the section Maintenance Procedures >> Engine Oil and Filter,

When performing an oil service by removing the oil drain plug, pay attention to the following information to prevent damage to the oil pan threads.



^ Always refer to ElsaWeb >> Engine Mechanical >> Lubrication >> Specifications for the proper fastener torque specification when installing the



engine oil drain plug.



^ Always pay attention to the footnotes. (See Figure 1.) Some engine oil drain plugs must be replaced when removed.
