Knocking noises are heard in the drivetrain.

Such noises cannot be avoided and are normal.
It may be possible to reduce the noise by releasing tension on the drive train mountings.
1. Support engine in place using 10-222 A.
2. Remove belly pan, front wheels, and front fender liners.
3. Remove and replace front motor mount through bolts right and left (Figure 1 and 2), but leave loose until step 5.

4. Loosen the transmission mount bolts and cradle bolts only enough to allow movement of the transmission and engine (Figure 3).
5. By repositioning the engine/transmission, tension on the driveline can be removed. Retighten all the bolts for the transmission and engine mounts
according to the repair manual.
6. Reinstall fender liners, wheels, and remove engine support.
7. Test drive to verify repair.
Tip: A gearbox replacement does not fix the complaint.

Technical Background
Navigation systems equipped in US spec vehicles come pre-loaded from the factory with:
^ Navigation maps for USA/Canada.
^ English (US), Spanish (Mexican), and French (Canadian) system languages.
It is not possible to change the language pack or map database to something outside of what is available on the vehicle from the factory for the
following reasons:
^ Software and hardware differences between US spec and Rest of World (ROW) spec modules can create communication issues in the vehicle.
^ Installing a ROW navigation database or language pack onto a US spec module is not possible.
^ The SVM system will not code or parametrize the replacement modules correctly, and will prohibit necessary SVM codes from being run in the
future.

Technical Background
Torque sticks and torque extension bars are not approved by Audi of America, Inc. and should not be used to apply torque to wheel bolts.
Always use a calibrated torque wrench to attain the correct wheel bolt torque. Proper use of a calibrated torque wrench ensures that all wheel bolts
are tightened equally and reduces the chances of repeat repairs.
Using methods other than a calibrated torque wrench to attain correct wheel bolt torque may lead to the following problems:
^ Brake disc damage.
^ Brake pulsation.
^ Steering wheel vibration.
^ Vehicle vibration.

Parking aid warning sound without obstacle
Condition
The parking assist system warns of obstacles when there are no obstacles around the vehicle.
Technical Background
Several reasons can lead to an unjustified warning sound of the parking assist system.
- One or more sensors are incorrectly mounted (see attachments) and the bumper is detected as an obstacle.
- Dirt, salt, ice, snow etc. might cover one or more parking assist sensors.
- Without single frame radiator: If the license plate holder is attached with only 2 bolts, the holder might protrude due to the uneven surface of
the bumper.
- With single frame radiator: If the license plate holder is not correctly installed, it might be detected as an obstacle.
Production Solution

Service
1. Check for parking assist system-related diagnostic trouble codes. If present, follow Guided Fault Finding to solve the concern.
2. Verify that all parking assist sensors are mounted properly. Remount parking assist sensors if necessary.
3. Verify sensor brackets are not broken. (Bumper removal is not necessary for the check.) Replace brackets, if broken.
4. Verify that the sensors are not covered by dirt, ice, salt, etc. Clean if necessary and inform customer.
5. If a license plate holder is mounted improperly:

- With single frame radiator: Install the license plate holder correctly.
Warranty

Kondensation ist sichtbar auf der Innenseite der Scheinwerfer, RĆ¼cklicht, Nebel-Licht, Seitenmarkierungsleuchten Licht, front, Blinker, Tagfahrlicht oder Dritten Bremse
Licht-Objektiv.
Technischer Hintergrund
Feuchte Luft setzt sich auf der Innenseite eine kalte Linse, entsteht kondensation.
Die Scheinwerfer-Kreislauf-system lƤsst Luft von auĆen flieĆen durch die Scheinwerfer. Dieser open water-geschĆ¼tzte LĆ¼ftungsanlage (erforderlich fĆ¼rDruckausgleich) schafft die verschiedenen Klimazonen im Scheinwerfer: sehr warme Gebiete, wo die Linse ist, erwƤrmt durch das Licht, und relativ
kĆ¼hlen Gebieten, wo die Linse ist abgekĆ¼hlt durch die Luft-flow.
Erhebliche Unterschiede in Feuchtigkeit und Temperatur zwischen der Innenseite und der AuĆenseite der Scheinwerfer auch wƤhrend der Fahrt fĆ¼hren kann
die kondensation. Dies gilt vor allem fĆ¼r die kalte und nasse Wetter, aber es kann auch geschehen, nachdem ein Auto waschen, nach dem Dampf-Reinigung des Motors-oder die front-end -,mit Ć¼ber-Nacht-Temperatur-Ƥnderungen, etc. Dieses PhƤnomen ist mehr sichtbar auf Linsen aus klarem Glas, als auf Kontaktlinsen mit Muster. Die Feuchtigkeit
betrifft nicht das Scheinwerfer-Funktion (Licht-performance) und fĆ¼hren nicht zu Korrosion oder andere SchƤden an Scheinwerfer-Teile.

FĆ¼r Scheinwerfer, die betroffenen Objektiv-OberflƤche sollte klar sein, nach etwa 10 Minuten leichte Bedienung, obwohl die gesamte LinsenoberflƤche kann nicht
klar. Der clearing-Prozess ist abhƤngig von der AuĆentemperatur und der Luftfeuchtigkeit.In FƤllen, In denen Wassertropfen gebildet haben auf der Innenseite der Linse oder Wasser gesammelt hat, an der Unterseite des Licht Montage, Ć¼berprĆ¼fen Sie fĆ¼r undichte Dichtungen
und/oder Risse in der Linse oder light-assembly. Wenn keine SchƤden festgestellt werden, verwenden Sie Druckluft (weniger als 30 PSI) um das Objektiv.
Auf das Licht von Baugruppen mit LED-Leuchten, z.B. S6-Tagfahrlicht, die LED-Leuchten Strahlen nicht genug Hitze, um klar die Feuchtigkeit von der Linse. Nur
die Druckdifferenz des Ventilations-system bietet Luftstrom zu deutlich die Feuchtigkeit auf der Innenseite der Linse. Das design der LĆ¼ftungsystem auf diese Arten von Lampen wird dafĆ¼r sorgen, das Objektiv ist klar, nach ein paar Meilen Gefahren worden.

De Formation Technique
Ce bulletin fournit des lignes directrices pour l'analyse de la qualitĆ© de l'appel de la technologie Bluetooth, systĆØme dans le vĆ©hicule.
Il y a plusieurs facteurs qui affectent la qualitĆ© de l'appel Ć l'intĆ©rieur d'un vĆ©hicule:
^ L'intƩrieur des bruits
^ La qualitƩ d'un appel Bluetooth est directement liƩ au rapport signal sur bruit. Les ƩlƩments qui peuvent affecter ce rapport sont les suivants:
DiffĆ©rentes surfaces de route/pneus.Ouvrir les fenĆŖtres ou le toit ouvrant.
Le climat de contrƓle de la vitesse du ventilateur et de la position de l'Ʃvent.

^ RƩduit la rƩception peut introduire du bruit dans l'appel Bluetooth. Affichage de rƩception sur le tƩlƩphone est un indicateur, mais pas prƩcis

^ The customer may report that the headlight turns on or off early or late when the light switch is in the Auto position.
^ After replacing the rain-light sensor G397 or after replacing the windshield, the automatic headlight may turn on or off without change of ambient
brightness.
The headlights operate normally if the light switch is in the On or Off position.
Technical Background
Possible causes:
^ Window damaged or dirty in the area of the sensor.
^ After repairing the windshield, the sensor is fitted without adhesive pad.
^ The rain/light sensor coding for the window is wrong, or the wrong windshield was installed.
^ Wiring damaged (plug or contact loose).
Production Solution
No change.
Service
1. If the rain/light sensor or the windshield was not replaced or installed prior to the customer visit, visually check the windshield for dirt or scratches
in the area of the rain/light sensor.
2. If one of the components was replaced, focus your diagnosis on this part first.

a. Verify that the sensor is correctly installed. Check for bubbles and correct sensor position.
b. Verify the correct coding of the rain/light sensor to the windshield. Use the corresponding test plan of the 09 - Vehicle Electrical System
Control Module J519.
c. Check the connectors for correct fit.
d. Check the function of the light/rain sensor in the corresponding measured value block of J519 (depends on model). Use an incandescent source;
do not use fluorescent light. Position the light source as close as possible to the sensor.
Tip: The displayed value (signal condition) for brightness, 0 - 7 in the measured value block, has no influence on the conditions for switching the
sensor on or off. This value is only for the Coming Leaving Home function. The sensitivity of the sensor cannot be altered.
3. If you determine that the rain/light sensor needs to be replaced, use the J519 test plan for replacing light/rain sensor G397 to ensure correct coding
and proper documentation after installation.

Technical Background
If it gets hot, the grease beading can liquefy and become visible on the steering housing. This condition has no effect on steering.

^ The customer may report that the headlight turns on or off early or late when the light switch is in the Auto position.
^ After replacing the rain-light sensor G397 or after replacing the windshield, the automatic headlight may turn on or off without change of ambient
brightness.
The headlights operate normally if the light switch is in the On or Off position.
Technical Background
Possible causes:
^ Window damaged or dirty in the area of the sensor.
^ After repairing the windshield, the sensor is fitted without adhesive pad.
^ The rain/light sensor coding for the window is wrong, or the wrong windshield was installed.
^ Wiring damaged (plug or contact loose).
Production Solution
No change.
Service
1. If the rain/light sensor or the windshield was not replaced or installed prior to the customer visit, visually check the windshield for dirt or scratches
in the area of the rain/light sensor.
2. If one of the components was replaced, focus your diagnosis on this part first.
a. Verify that the sensor is correctly installed. Check for bubbles and correct sensor position.

b. Verify the correct coding of the rain/light sensor to the windshield. Use the corresponding test plan of the 09 - Vehicle Electrical System
Control Module J519.
c. Check the connectors for correct fit.
d. Check the function of the light/rain sensor in the corresponding measured value block of J519 (depends on model). Use an incandescent source;
do not use fluorescent light. Position the light source as close as possible to the sensor.
Tip: The displayed value (signal condition) for brightness, 0 - 7 in the measured value block, has no influence on the conditions for switching the
sensor on or off. This value is only for the Coming Leaving Home function. The sensitivity of the sensor cannot be altered.
3. If you determine that the rain/light sensor needs to be replaced, use the J519 test plan for replacing light/rain sensor G397 to ensure correct coding
and proper documentation after installation.

Loss of adhesion between the door structure and door seal due to a flaw in the attachment process in production.

Service
In cases where the outer door seal has become partially detached, it may not be necessary to replace the outer door seal. Seals can be reattached
provided they are not damaged, have not been previously repaired or previously reattached and the detachment length does not exceed 10 cm.
1. Inspect all four doors.
^ All undamaged, previously unrepaired, or loose seals with a detachment length less than 10 cm will be repaired. Complete steps 2-9 below
to repair the door seals.
^ If the door seal is damaged, has been previously repaired, or previously reattached or detached greater than 10 cm, replace the door seal
according to the repair instructions in ElsaWeb >> Body >> Body Exterior >> 57 Front Doors, Central Locking System >> Removal and
Installation >> Doors >> Door Seals. In the case of a rear door seal replacement, refer to ElsaWeb >> Body >> Body Exterior >> 58 Rear
Doors >> Removal and Installation >> Rear Door >> Door Seals.
Note:
In addition to the repair manual instructions for replacing the door seals observe the following: Thoroughly clean the area of seal
attachment with plastic cleaner D 00940104. Allow the area of seal attachment to dry completely (at least 5 minutes). Apply bonding agent
D 355205A2 using a D 00950025 applicator to the seal attachment area. Allow to dry an additional 5 minutes.
If repairing the door seals, proceed as follows:
2. Ensure that the temperature of the door and outer door seal are not cooler than 70éę¤ę·F (21éę¤ę·C). This is vital to ensure optimum adhesion of the
outer door seal.
3. Thoroughly clean the bonding surfaces of the doors to be repaired with plastic cleaner D 00940104. Allow the bonding surfaces to dry
completely (at least 5 minutes). The bonding surfaces must be dry and free of any dust, grease, silicone or any other similar contaminant that
might compromise the adhesion.
4. Apply bonding agent D 355205A2 using a D 00950025 applicator in the area to be bonded. Allow the treated surface to dry an additional 5
minutes.
5. Thinly coat the outer door seal with rubber profile adhesive D 477KD1A2 in the area that has become detached.

6. Press the door seal lightly to the door surface and then detach it again (Figure 2). This ensures that the glue is distributed as evenly as possible
on the surfaces to be bonded.
7. Allow the now detached area to dry for 5 minutes.
8. After this time attach the seal firmly to the door surface. Roll over this area several times with special tool 3356 (or equivalent).

9. Apply force to the seal with the 3356 only at the base of the seal (area 3 shown in Figure 4).
10. Remove any residual adhesive that may be visible with adhesive remover D 002000A2.
Tip: The repaired door should not be closed for two hours. During this time, any freshly glued surfaces should not be tested by pulling on the
seal to see if they have bonded.

Technical Background
To comply with the legal requirements on exhaust gas emissions according to the LEV-1 and LEV-2 standards, a high exhaust gas quality must be
ensured. The necessary catalyst only operates at a temperature over 300éę¤ę·C (572éę¤ę·F). To achieve this, the catalyst is heated up. The catalyst heating
phase is achieved by a late ignition angles and by introducing additional fresh air to the exhaust valves (secondary air system).
Late ignition angles make sure that the exhaust gas from the cylinders has a higher temperature. This exhaust gas includes fuel that is un-burnt, and
was deliberately injected into great quantities. The secondary air system adds fresh air to the exhaust gas as it leaves the cylinder and the extra fuel is
burnt. As a result, the temperatures of the exhaust gas and of the catalyst increase quickly.
Effects:
The afterburning in the exhaust manifold before the catalyst changes the sound characteristic of the engine. This heating-up of the catalyst, including
afterburning, is normal and has no effect on the service life of the engine. During this catalyst heating phase, the engine has increased idle speed,
may have increased vibrations, and has a different sound characteristic.
Conditions for the catalyst heating phase:
Depending on conditions, the time of the catalyst heating phase varies.

Technical Background
The one-touch feature of one or more windows or the sunroof has lost its adaptation due to conditions such as battery disconnect, etc.

Perform one-touch feature adaptation for the windows:
1. Pull and hold the power window switch until the window is completely closed.
2. Release the switch.
3. Pull the switch again for one second. The one touch feature and convenience close/open feature are now reactivated.
For vehicles with a sunroof, it may be necessary to perform the following sunroof adaptation:
Warning:
During this adaptation, the pinch protection is not active. Pinch protection is restored after the adaptation procedure is completed.
1. Turn the sunroof knob to open the sunroof.
2. Turn the sunroof knob to close the sunroof again.

3. Within 5 seconds of closing the sunroof, pull the sunroof switch knob and hold in this position until the sunroof tilts open and then completely
closes again. This may take up to 15 seconds, but on newer motors the adaptation starts immediately.

This information is designed to help you assess whether a shock absorber is leaking.
Leaking shock absorbers
A leaking shock absorber is characterized by a wet film of oil running down the pipe. This needs to be replaced.
Shock absorbers with oil marks

A light film of dried oil or oil marks on the pipe beneath the dust guard are not clear indication of a leaking shock. These are caused by residues
from filling up the shock during production or slight "condensation" in the seal area. This small amount of oil is for lubrication and reduces the wear
of the seal.
Tip: This does not affect the shock absorber. No repair is necessary.

Affected Vehicles
Condition
After replacing the ABS control unit, the new control unit stores DTC 01044 (Control Unit Incorrectly Coded).
No warning light is on and the brake electronics work correctly.
Technical Background
Due to a supersession of parts, only ABS/ESP hydraulic control units prepared for vehicles equipped with the start-stop feature are supplied as
replacement parts.
Once installed, the new unit stores DTC 01044 (Control Unit Incorrectly Coded) because it does not receive a response on the data bus when
checking for the start-stop feature. The missing response results in the DTC entry.
Within the scenario described in the Condition section of this TSB, the missing start-stop response is the only reason for this DTC. In all other
respects the coding of the ABS/ESP control unit matches the vehicle data. The entry does not affect the function of the brake electronics and no
warning appears in the instrument cluster. There are no effects on performance or safety.
Production Solution
No change.

^ If DTC 01044 (Control Unit Incorrectly Coded) occurs within the scenario described in the Condition section of this TSB, it can be ignored.
^ If DTC 01044 is stored along with a customer complaint or brake warning in the instrument cluster, proceed according to Guided Fault Finding.

Vehicle Information
Condition
^ The self-leveling system can no longer be adjusted with the MMI.
^ The compressor for the self-leveling system continues to run after the engine has been switched off and the vehicle has been locked.
^ One of the following DTCs may be stored in the level control system module, J197 (address word 34):
^ DTC 0453 (restricted function through excess temperature).
^ DTC 1583 (leak in the system recognized).
^ DTC 1770 (sender for compressor temperature of self-leveling control G290).
^ DTC 1772 (signal cable of pressure sender for self-leveling control G291).
^ DTC 2645 (valves for self-leveling control).
^ DTC 2646 (plausibility of self-leveling control).
Technical Background
Because of poor performance or failure of the air suspension compressor, the vehicle ride height cannot be adjusted. As a safeguard, the control
module will lower the vehicle to the lowest position and illuminate the warning light. Drivability is not affected.

1. Check the function of the air compressor by supplying it with direct current. Determine if the air compressor is operating correctly and sounds
normal, if it is unusually noisy, or if it is not working at all.
2. Check relay J403 by opening the relay and comparing it to the images shown:
If the relay exhibits any of the conditions A - C below, replace both the air compressor and the relay, even if the air compressor sounds normal.
A) Strong erosion of both contacts (Figure 1, Figure 2).
B) Strong erosion of the spring contact (Figure 3).

C) Overheated strand (Figure 4).
If the relay contacts are similar to condition D below, and the air compressor sounds normal, replace only the relay.
D) Contacts with minor marks (Figure 5).

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
This condition is caused by a function check of the Electronic Damping Control Module that coincides with the engine start.
After the Electronic Damping Control Module recognizes the signal ignition on," the shock absorber initialization is started. The motors of the
regulator valves are checked in turn by brief current supply.
Because of the high voltage required for the engine start, the function check is disrupted, and as a result, the above DTC entries are generated and
the Adaptive Dampers warning light is illuminated, with a message displayed in the Driver information display Suspension: System Fault.
The warning light goes out after an ignition cycle.
This condition does not affect the handling of the vehicle.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
1. Delete the DTCs.
2. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
3. Update the electronic damping control module (J250) using the SVM action code as listed in the table below if necessary.

4. If the vehicle is an A4 or A5, recalibrate Audi Lane Assist (PR code 7Y1).
Tip: Replacing the electronic damping control module (J250) or the affected shock absorber(s) does not address the condition. Any parts replaced
under warranty may be subject to review and possible debit of the claim(s).
