2019 Audi Q3 Teased Ahead Of Official Reveal This Week

Audi’s new Volvo XC40 rival will break cover on July 25.

After recently unveiling the flagship Q8 SUV and the facelifted TT sports car, Audi’s product onslaught will continue this week with the reveal of the second-generation Q3. Underpinned by Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture, the Q3 is being rebuilt from the ground up for the first time since the original launched in 2011. Audi was one of the first automakers to jump on the subcompact luxury crossover bandwagon, but seven years later the automaker is facing increasingly stiff competition from the likes of the Volvo XC40, Jaguar E-Pace, and BMW X1 in this competitive segment, so the updated Q3 is certainly arriving at the right time to take on its fresher rivals.

A teaser video confirms the 2019 Q3 will adopt Full-LED headlights inspired by Audi’s new design language seen on recent models. While it won’t be a drastic departure from the current model, it should look more modern, offering an attractive alternative to its larger siblings. Inside, expect the new Q3 to be more technically advanced than its predecessor and adopt Audi’s latest virtual cockpit display. In terms of powertrains, the current model’s 1.5-liter TSI and 2.0 TDI will most likely carry over in various guises.

In the US, the current model is only available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, so we expect this unit will carry over to the new model.

Performance-focused SQ3 and RSQ3 models will also join the line-up, with the latter rumored to pack 400 hp. The standard Q3 will break cover in just two days on July 25 before it goes on sale later this year, so watch this space. We’re just glad Audi hasn’t produced another cringe-worthy web series to promote it.

Audi e-tron Reveal Delayed Because Of Dieselgate

The reveal event was supposed to take place in Brussels in August but will now be held in the US at a later date.

August 30 was supposed to be the reveal day of Audi’s first ever EV, the e-tron, but the event has been delayed after company CEO Rupert Stadler’s arrest last week. The electric crossover was originally going to be revealed at a prestigious full-day event in Brussels where the e-tron will be built, but Audi has confirmed to Automotive News the event will now take place in the US at an unspecified date and location. In a statement, Audi said the delay was due to "organizational reasons."

Consequently, the delay probably means that Audi’s chief rival Mercedes-Benz will be the first German automaker to unveil a mass-produced Tesla-fighter, the EQC that will make its world debut in Stockholm on September 4. Despite delaying the crossover's debut, Audi told Automotive News the e-tron’s sales launch hasn’t been affected. The e-tron will have its market launch at the end of the year. Nothing has changed," an Audi spokeswoman said. The delay comes after Audi’s CEO was arrested and imprisoned last week without bail in Germany on suspicion he was interfering with their investigation into the ongoing diesel scandal.

Stadler is one of 20 former or current Audi employees currently under investigation. The e-tron will mark a major milestone for Audi as the company starts its all-electric onslaught. By 2025, Audi aims to deliver 800,000 electrified cars every year. To achieve this lofty goal, Audi will offer an electrified version of every vehicle in its lineup by 2025, most of which will be fully electric.

Audi Will Reveal The PB 18 e-tron Electric-Drive Supercar Concept Next Month

Could this be a preview of a future halo supercar?

Audi has just announced next month it will unveil an electric-drive supercar concept at the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance Week, appropriately called PB 18 e-tron. ‘PB’, of course, stands for Pebble Beach and the year is 2018. The name choice also takes into account the Le Mans-series winner Audi R18 e-tron. The automaker offers very few details about the concept itself, only that it was conceived and designed by the new Audi Design Loft in Malibu, California. That Le Mans-series winner featured many new technologies that Audi claims “inspired the solutions for various details.” What details?

Also unknown for now. However, we get the clear impression the PB 18 e-tron is track-focused. The same weekend it’s making its Pebble Beach debut, it will also be heading to Southern California’s Laguna Seca racetrack as part of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion reception. Will it also do some sort of track demo for the audience? It’s certainly possible. But for now we’ll have to make do with the single image of the PB 18 e-tron’s front end, though it’s still pretty well disguised. It certainly does look aggressive even from this angle thanks to those headlights, low roofline, and bulging front fenders.

Could the PB 18 e-tron be an early preview of an eventual R8 successor? Absolutely. But what thing is certain: Audi is continuing to move at a brisk pace towards electrification. Wouldn’t having a new halo supercar showcasing that technology be ideal? We think so. Full details to come on August 23.

Audi e-tron New Reveal Date Ditches Europe For America

Audi will be showing its first ever fully electric model a few weeks after Mercedes debuts the ECQ.

Audi’s first ever all-electric model, the e-tron SUV, was originally going to be unveiled in just a few weeks at an event in Brussels on August 30. However, those plans were scrapped after Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler was arrested following allegations he was tampering with evidence during the Volkswagen Dieselgate investigation. Consequently, the e-tron's much-anticipated debut was delayed, but we now know the new reveal date.

Audi has announced the e-tron will debut on September 17 at an event in San Francisco. Unfortunately, that means Audi's Jaguar I-Pace fighter will be revealed a few weeks after its chief rival Mercedes-Benz shows the ECQ to the world on September 4 in Stockholm, Sweden. Full specifications for the e-tron will be detailed on Audi’s US website on the day of the event, including pricing, allowing customers to configure their e-tron. From September 17, customers will be able to reserve the e-tron with a refundable $1,000 reservation fee. After customers place a reservation, they will be able to track it online with their local dealer. More details about this system will be revealed at the San Francisco event.

“We’re introducing a premium, customer-centric vehicle in a premium, customer-centric way,” said Scott Keogh, president of Audi of America. “With our owners and our dealers, this process allows us to offer transparency from reservation and build all the way through delivery.”

As well as announcing the debut date and reservation details, Audi also released a new teaser image of the electric crossover’s silhouette covered under a sheet. It isn’t very revealing, but from the pre-production prototype shown at the Geneva Motor Show we know it will have a singleframe grille, small air intakes and slender headlights.

Audi has also previously confirmed the crossover will have a drag coefficient of 0.28. it will also be the first production model available with futuristic “virtual exterior mirrors,” which act as camera mirrors broadcasting footage to OLED displays mounted on the door panels. As for powertrain details, Audi says the e-tron will be powered by two electric motors and a 95 kWh battery pack providing a range of 248 miles on a single charge.

Customer deliveries for the e-tron are expected to start in early 2019. It will be the first of three fully electric vehicles Audi will debut by 2020, with nearly 30 percent of its customers in the US anticipated to go electric by 2025.

All-New 2019 Audi A6 Teased Ahead Of Geneva Reveal

Guess what? Looks just like an A8.

The 2018 Geneva Motor Show is just around the corner and any brand with a stake in the European market is falling all over itself to hype what it will be showing—a not-so-easy task with all the world’s supercars in attendance. Compared to some of those carbon-fiber-constructed monsters, Audi’s reveal seems positively normal. An all-new fifth-generation A6 sedan is coming to town and Audi has started things with a teaser video announcing, “The countdown has begun…”

Note Audi's YouTube summary with the hashtag #AudiGIMS, clearly the automakers Twitter brand for the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show. The teaser video doesn’t show much, but it does show enough to see that it clearly follows in the footsteps of the Prologue-inspired 2019 Audi A8.

The next-generation Audi A6 is expected to get nearly all the same bells and whistles as the A7, such as Level 3 autonomous driving hardware, Virtual Cockpit, and dual console displays. Audi's usual lineup of turbocharged engines and 48-volt hybrid systems are also in the cards. The current "C7" Audi A6 debuted in 2010 for the 2011 model year. In 2015, Audi refreshed its midsize executive sedan and added new levels of tech to the car. While the model has traditionally offered a diesel variant, don't expect one in the U.S.—you know, for obvious reasons. However, we could get the RS6 Avant on U.S. shores, and that would be just fine by us.
