Condition



The fresh air blower is inoperative. One or more of the following DTCs may be stored in the heating and air conditioning electronics control module



(address word 08):



^ DTC 01844 004 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 No signal/communication)



^ DTC 01644 014 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 Faulty)



^ DTC 01273 009 (Fresh air blower -V2- Open / Short circuit to ground)



^ DTC 01273 006 (Fresh air blower -V2- Short circuit to B+)

Technical Background



Malfunctions of the fresh air blower could be caused by one or both of the following root causes:



^ A faulty printed circuit board in the fresh air blower control module, J126.



^ The carbon brushes bind in the brush holder and, as a consequence, lose contact with the motor commutator of the fresh air blower, -V2-.



Production Solution



^ Improved fresh air blower control module, J126.



^ Improved brush assembly has been implemented in production.



Service



If either of the following DTCs are present, replace the fresh air blower control module, J126:



^ DTC 01844004 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 No signal/communication)



^ DTC 01844014 (Control module for fresh air blower J126 Faulty)

either of the following DTCs are present, replace the fresh air blower, -V2-:



^ DTC 01273 009 (Fresh air blower -V2- Open / Short circuit to ground)



^ DTC 01273 006 (Fresh air blower -V2- Short circuit to B+)



If DTCs for both the J126 as well as the V2 are present, replace both the fresh air blower control module, J126 and the fresh air blower, -V2-.
