Audi S6 Means Better Performance

The S6 is the high performance version of the A6. Better performance means a 5.2-liter V10 producing 425 horsepower and a combined fuel economy of 16 mpg. The Quattro all-wheel-drive system and Tiptronic automatic six-speed transmission are standard as well. Inside, you'll find the latest Multi Media Interface (MMI) which controls entertainment, communication, and optional navigation features via the dash-mounted LCD screen and other center console-mounted controls.

While not a perfect system (and easier to use than BMW's iDrive system), it has been improved significantly for 2010. Another cool new feature is real-time traffic information - surely necessary in everyday work commutes. If the $76,100 base price is something you can manage, then be sure to take the S6 out for a spin when considering your next high performance luxury sedan. Audis rarely disappoint.

Audi TTS Roadster Adds Supreme Performance

The market for small two-door roadster performance has never faded. It will always be the fun segment for convertible enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike. But the TTS brand is for enthusiasts only. With its turbocharged 2.0T FSI, the TTS will go from zero to 60 in 5.4 seconds. Available with either a 6-speed manual or S-tronic transmission, it features a lowered suspension, a special electronic stability program, and unique TTS logos inside and outside the car.

To distinguish the TTS more from the standard TT, there's unique body styling featuring larger air intakes up front, redesigned rear bumper, four exhaust tailpipes, of course the soft drop-top, and side still extensions. Joyriding doesn't get much better than this.

Audi RS6 Avant Performance Nogaro Edition Revealed With 700-HP

Limited to 150 units, this new special edition RS6 Avant is a tribute to Audi’s first-ever RS model launched in 1992.

The RS6 Avant Performance is one of the wildest wagons made by Audi Sport, packing a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing an impressive 597 horsepower. But now there’s a new special edition version that takes the high-performance wagon to a new extreme. Audi collaborated with the tuners at ABT Sportsline to build the RS6 Avant Performance Nogaro Edition that pays homage to the iconic RS2 that launched in 1994 as Audi’s first-ever RS model. Limited to only 150 units, its name is derived from its Nogaro Blue hue paint.

The eye-catching finish is complemented with an abundance of glossy black accents. It rides on black 21-inch wheels with beefy 285/30 tires and has been fitted with an RS titanium exhaust system. Under the hood lies the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 as the regular RS6 Avant but Audi worked with ABT to crank up the power output to a respectable 695 hp, making the Nogaro Edition one of the most powerful wagons on the planet. Torque has also been increased from 516 lb-ft to 649 lb-ft. This potent power enables the all-wheel drive wagon to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds and go on to hit a limited top speed of 189 mph with the optional Dynamic Package Plus installed.

Inside, the cabin features blue Alcantara upholstery on the seats, door panels, and knee pads, along with a black Alcantara headliner, blue contrast stitching, and special floor mats with blue piping. There’s also a carbon fiber trim with “Nogaro Edition” badging. If the eye-catching blue accents aren’t to your taste, Audi also offers a Nogaro Edition black edition which replaces the blue Alcantara upholstery with less prominent black Alcantara accents. In Germany, prices for the regular RS6 Avant Performance Nogaro Edition start at 124,200 Euros (around $154,400) and 130,000 Euros ($161,600) if you want the blue accents.

It’s a shame it won’t be sold in the US due to the declining popularity of wagons, but this hopefully serves as an appetizing taster for the next-generation RS6 Avant that could come stateside. It’s probably not worth holding your breath, though. That said, Audi of America President Scott Keogh recently revealed that a top secret RS model will launch in the US along with the RS5 Sportback, so there is still hope.

The Audi SQ8 Will Be The Grand Daddy Of SUV Performance And Tech

Look out Porsche Cayenne and Bentley Bentayga.

Audi has made no secret of its desire to expand its Q-named SUV lineup. Right now, the biggest one you can buy is the Q7, but very soon the Q8 will arrive. Although slightly less roomy inside, its exterior dimensions are clearly sportier, therefore more attractive. These latest spy shots from our always intrepid photographers prove that point. The test mule you see here is apparently the upcoming SQ8, the more powerful version. How can we tell? Check out its quad exhaust pipes, a clear-cut sign of its performance capabilities.

Speaking of which, what will be under the hood? Right now there are only rumors we can’t fully confirm, but we have heard it could be powered by the familiar 3.0-liter TFSI V6 that on its own produces 444 hp. However, as the Q8 concept previewed, a 20 kWh electric motor could also be there to provide some assistance. If so, expect a combined output of around 470 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Sources tell us it’s also possible, though unlikely, at least in the US, that a diesel version of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 435 hp is also possible. Whatever the final engine options are, there’s no question the Audi SQ8 will be a heavy hitter in the performance department.

In these spy shots we can also see it being benchmarked against a Porsche Cayenne, its distant corporate cousin. The Audi’s interior will feature the brand’s Virtual Cockpit technology and that always wonderful Audi build quality throughout. Four-wheel steering is also very likely. In short, the production Audi SQ8 will be loaded with technology and luxury. Based on the previous concepts, which looked around 95 percent production ready, we could see the Q8 and/or SQ8 debut as soon as next month at Geneva.

2019 Audi A6 Revealed With Advanced Tech And Sporty Performance

Exterior changes may be subtle, but the new A6 is significantly more hi-tech inside.

After last year’s reveals of the all-new Audi A7 and A8, it was only a matter of time before the mid-size A6 executive sedan received an upgrade. Ahead of its debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show, Audi has lifted the wraps off the all-new eighth-generation A6. On the surface, it’s difficult to tell the difference between the new car and the outgoing model. Stylistically, the A6 features design cues taken from the A7 and A8, but the changes are rather subtle.

It’s slightly larger than the previous model, measuring 0.5 inches wider, 0.3 inches longer, and 0.1 inches taller than its predecessor. Rear legroom has improved as a result, as has headroom and shoulder space. At the front, the A6 adopts a stylish and sophisticated design with “taut surfaces, sharp edges and striking lines.” Its inherited the A7’s wide singleframe grille, while its flat headlights and large air intakes give the sedan a sporty look. Three versions of the headlights are available, including top-of-the-range Matrix LED lights. Striking lines adorning the side of the A6 reduce the car’s visual height, and there’s also an integrated trunk spoiler and optional LED taillights with nine vertical segments.

While the exterior tweaks are subtle, inside there are much more significant changes. The cabin borrows nearly everything from the A7, which is a very good thing as this means the A6’s interior is much more premium and hi-tech. The range-topping model includes the A7’s 10.1-inch MMI infotainment screen, as well as an 8.6-inch display used for controlling the climate control and other convenience functions and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with Audi’s virtual cockpit. MMI navigation also offers a host of new navigation features, including a self-learning function based on the driven routes, which generates intelligent search suggestions as you drive.

Audi loves to boast about the A8 being the first car to feature Level 3 autonomous driving technology, so it comes as no surprise to find that the new A6 is loaded with advanced driver assists, which use up to five radar sensors, five cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner for its Park Assist package. This includes Parking Pilot and Garage Pilot, which enable the car to automatically park itself. A City assist package is also available with features including a new crossing assist, while the Tour assist package comes with an adaptive cruise assist that “supplements the adaptive cruise control by means of gentle steering intervention to keep the vehicle in lane.”

Ventilation and massage functions are also optionally available for the seats. Two engine options will be available for the new A6 in Europe. The turbocharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6 develops 340 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque and is connected to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. 0-62 mph takes 5.1 seconds before the sedan hits a top speed of 155 mph. A 3.0-liter TDI V6 diesel also produces 286 horsepower 457 lb-ft of torque. This unit is paired to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system. No information has been released about US powertrains, but we doubt the diesel model will be available Stateside.

All models have a mild-hybrid system as standard that utilizes a belt-alternator starter and a lithium-ion battery. This enables the A6 to coast between 34.2 and 99.4 mph. The start-stop function kicks in up to 13.7 mph. Audi says the new A6 is “noticeably sportier than the outgoing model.” It handles like a sports car but is as maneuverable as a compact thanks to redesigned suspension made of lightweight aluminum in many areas. Despite riding on larger wheels measuring up to 21 inches and tire sizes of up to 255/35, Audi says the A6 has improved ride and noise comfort. Steering is also said to be more direct, making the large sedan extremely maneuverable.

The new Audi A6 will go on sale in Germany this June. Prices for the Audi A6 50 TDI quattro start at 58,050 Euros ($70,945).
