Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 08-120 dated November 11, 2008 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
The customer may encounter operation issues with the Apple iPhone(TM) in conjunction with the AUDI Music Interface (AMI).
Technical Background
iPhone software
203
The iPhone cannot only be used as a mobile telephone but also as an MP3 player, like an Apple iPod(R). This works in conjunction with the AMI as
long as the iPhone's software is version 1.1.2 or 1.1.4 (version 2.0.x is under development at the time of producing this bulletin) and the AMI has at
least software version 700.
In case of a claim that the iPhone does not work properly, software not authorized by Apple may have been installed in the iPhone.
iPhone operation
^ If an iPhone is connected to AMI, the Bluetooth telephone function can be used at the same time as the external music function as long as the
vehicle is correspondingly equipped.
^ If the iPhone is operated through a telephone adapter and not connected to the AMI, then the iPhone will not function as an external music source.
Production Solution
No changes.
Service
In case of a complaint, please verify that the installed software is indeed the original software.
Tip: The software version may be shown as 1.1.2./1.1.4. even with unauthorized software in the iPhone. Due to this reason, verify in the upper left
corner of the iPhone display that the service provider is AT&T, which is the exclusive partner of the Apple phone.
Inform the customer accordingly.
Warranty
Replacing the AMI in conjunction with an iPhone with software that has not been authorized by the manufacturer is not permitted.
The component behavior is due to outside influence and is not covered by any Audi warranty.
