Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11 - 26 dated December 1, 2011 for reasons listed below.



Affected Vehicles



Condition



^ No sound from all audio sources on vehicles without separate amplifier (standard sound system).



^ No sound, only from the radio on vehicles with separate amplifier (premium sound system, Bose or Bang & Olufsen). All other audio sources



function normally.



Tip: This TSB does not apply to vehicles with a separate amplifier and the complaint "No sound from all audio sources."



Technical Background



Hardware-related issue in the radio.



Production Solution



Improved radio hardware and new software (ZUG 0114).



Service



1. Replace the radio and update the software of the MMI 3G system.



Tip: Refer to your parts department for the correct radio part number.



Tip: For successful results, the steps must be performed in this sequence.



2. Check MMI 3G system software version.



3. Update software of the MMI 3G system.



4. Perform feedback documentation to the SVM.



Check MMI 3G system software versions:



1. Switch on ignition and wait approximately 1 minute.

2. Press the SETUP and RETURN buttons simultaneously and hold both buttons down for about 5 seconds.



If the message in Figure 2 is displayed, the system is not completely initialized. Wait a few seconds and then press the RETURN button.



3. Read current MMI train (ZUG) version.



4. The train (ZUG) versions listed in the table above must be updated.



P versions are production build.



K versions are service updates.



Update MMI 3G systems software:



1. Connect an approved Audi battery maintainer/charger to vehicle.

2. Switch off all unnecessary electrical equipment (blower, seat heater, interior light, etc.).



Tip: Make sure that no electromagnetic interference sources, such as mobile phones, are operated in or near the vehicle while individual control



units are being updated.



Tip: For complete and detailed instructions for the MMI 3G system update, refer to the attached instructions. (Note: The attached instructions are



generic. Some portions may not apply to this specific TSB. Importing and exporting customer code data is not necessary for this MMI 3G update



system.)



3. Insert update CD into the MMI 3G main (head) drive unit located in the center of the instrument panel.



4. Start the software update.



5. After the software update has been performed, confirm the "Abort (cancel) documentation" selection. The MMI 3G system will restart. Then



perform the feedback documentation.



Perform feedback documentation using SVM:



1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.



2. Confirm any proposed parameter settings and coding.



3. Perform test program "5F - Information electronics, resetting fault memory" to clear any faults in the system.



Tip: No control unit is flashed as part of the feedback documentation to the SVM. Do not perform any updates of control units. Do not replace any



control units.
