10 Craziest Drag Races Of The Month: July 2018 Edition

Tesla vs the Germans, many Mopars, and the slowest drag race in history.

We are living in a world where smartphones have made everyone a professional videographer. Hence why everytime one of the latest sports cars or supercars enters a drag race, someone is always there to record it. This month was filled with awesome internet race videos, but we've picked out 10 particularly entertaining ones for our list of 10 Craziest Drag Races of the Month: July 2018 Edition.

Lamborghini Huracan vs AMG GT R

This drag race seems like an easy conclusion, but victories are never guaranteed in real life. The 602 horsepower V10 Lamborghini Hurcan should easily defeat the 577 hp AMG GT R, but the Mercedes does have a 200-pound weight advantage, so it's anyone's race.

Volvo V5 vs All Comers

This V50 T5 is no ordinary Volvo, it is a 500 hp sleeper wagon. In this video, we see the V50 race against a 740 hp BMW M4 and a Porsche 991 Turbo S. It may not win, but it does show how far a good tuning job can take a car.

Audi Q5 vs Q5 vs SQ5

It is always interesting to see how much faster one model of a car is against another. This race pits a standard Audi Q5 2.0T against a Q5 TDI and an SQ5. It doesn't take three guesses to determine which Q5 is going to win.

Audi RS3 Sportback vs Lamborghini Aventador

We don't get the Audi RS3 Sportback in the US, but videos like this make us wish we did. The 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder can be tuned to produce huge power figures, enough to challenge an Aventador. After defeating a few Mercedes AMG and BMW Alpina cars, the RS3 turns its sights on the Lamborghini.

Volkswagen Golf With RS3 Engine

This video doesn't feature a head-to-head drag race, but it does show an Mk7 Volkswagen Golf with the five-cylinder engine out of an Audi RS3. The car has been upgraded with a TTE625 turbocharger and now produces 600 hp. We seriously wish VW would build a Golf R with the RS3's five-cylinder engine.

BMW M5 vs Seat Arosa Diesel

This sounds like one of the most obvious drag races on this list. How could a diesel Seat possibly beat a brand-new, 600 hp BMW M5? This race turns out to be a one-sided affair, but not in the way you might expect.

Dodge Demon vs Lamborghini Huracan

In the first of several videos featuring a Demon or Hellcat racing something else, the Demon embarrasses itself by running out of fuel mid-race. Dodge does brag about how quickly its products can drink gasoline in its own press releases, so this result doesn't really surprise us.

Dodge Hellcats vs Everything Else

In a video showing a bunch of Hellcats drag racing, there are bound to be some victories. However, there are also bound to be some crippling defeats. Running out of gas may be embarrassing, but nothing is worse than going up in smoke halfway down the drag strip.

Dodge Hellcat vs Audi R8 (In The City)

Driving on a race track is very different than driving in the real world. Real roads have bumps, potholes, rain, police, and all sorts of obstacles. The Hellcat may be a very powerful car, but putting the power down on public roads can be difficult, which is why AWD cars like the Audi R8 have the advantage.

Ford Model T vs Model A

This is easily the slowest race on this list, but it may also be the most entertaining. At an annual cruise event, Route 66 was shut down to host a drag race between a Ford Model A and a Ford Model T. The race may have been quicker if they had done it on foot.
