Affected Vehicles
CONDITION
The customer may report that the display of the driver information system in the Instrument Cluster (J285) is black for about 10 seconds after start.
Afterwards, it returns to normal function.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
As a result of a low voltage drop during engine start, the graphics controller of the driver information system may reset. Once the voltage returns to a
normal level, the controller needs a few seconds to initialize.
This is an intended behavior of the Instrument Cluster (J285) in case of a low voltage drop.
Low voltage drops may occur during engine start in harsh environments such as in very low temperatures or at low vehicle battery charge.
Only vehicles with color driver information system (PR code 9Q4) may be affected.
