CONDITION

The customer may report:
^ The inside of the taillight lens is fogged up.
^ Large drops of water may or may not be forming inside the taillight.
The function of the taillight is not affected.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Humid air settles on the inside of the lens. This is a naturally-occurring phenomenon.
Large water drops or even accumulations are caused by a leak in the taillight. Poorly fitting covers, damaged seals or a cracked lens is usually the
root cause.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
If water is dripping from inside the lens or is accumulating inside the lens:
If there is a lot of dripping on the inside of lens (Figure 1) or if water is accumulating (Figure 2), the taillight leaks.
^ If a damaged seal or cracked lens is the root cause, replace the affected taillight with a standard taillight as directed in TSB 2012749 94 Exterior
lights, moisture accumulation.
^ If a poorly fitted cover is the root cause, remove the water from the taillight and let it dry. As long as water spots in the visible area or water
corrosion are not present, reinstall the taillight. Otherwise replace it with a standard taillight.
Tip: Installation of anti-fog coated taillights is not approved if water is dripping or accumulating inside the lens.
If humid air has settled on the inside of the lens:
Taillights with anti-fog coating should be installed only in repeated-repair cases or if the condition persists after performing TSB 2012749 94

Exterior lights, moisture accumulation. The following information is required when submitting the warranty claim:
^ The claim number of the first taillight replacement due to condensation.
^ Photos of the currently affected taillight in installed condition.
If the taillight resembles Figure 3, 4, 5 or 6, install a taillight with anti-fog coating.
The anti-fog coated taillight looks the same as the standard taillight and can therefore be replaced individually.
Tip: In the Audi A6, anti-fog coating is available only for LED taillights.
