Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 64 number 12 - 20 dated May 30, 2012 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

Condition

After replacing one or both of the front door control units (J386/J387) or one or both of the rear door control units (J388/J389), the control unit(s)

cannot be coded nor parameterized via SVM spec/actual.

Technical Background

The software coding container located on the central server has changed for the front and rear door control units and because of this, an SVM code is

required to code/parameterize any replacement control unit. Simply running an SVM specified vs. actual comparison will not code/parameterize the

new replacement control unit. A hardware change suggestion will be provided when an SVM spec/actual is executed.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

For A5:

Please refer to TSB 2022450 Window regulator noisy during operation before proceeding with this TSB and ensure additional steps are not required.

When replacing the Driver or Passenger Front Door control unit (J386/J387), perform an SVM code to code and parameterize the control unit(s).

For C7 A6/A7:

When replacing the Driver or Passenger Front/Rear Door control unit (J386/J387/J388/J389), perform an SVM code to code and parameterize the

control unit(s).

Note:

The table above contains four separate SVM codes depending on the installation location. Each code will only work for only one of the door control

unit locations at time. Each code must be executed separately. For instance, when replacing more than one control unit during a single service visit,

replace only one of the control units and execute the SVM code for that affected location. Then replace the second control unit for the other location

and execute the appropriate SVM code, and repeat for other locations.

The C7 rear door control units have the same hardware/software part numbers for left and right sides (and can be installed on either side), but there

are different SVM codes for rear left and rear right! No software update is performed during this SVM communication.
