Affected Vehicles
Condition
This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) has been proactively released to prevent the following condition from occurring in unsold vehicles.
Please note: This RVU applies only to vehicles currently in inventory; this RVU does not apply to sold vehicles.
^ Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is illuminated.
^ DTC (Oxygen Sensor, slow response or stuck rich) stored in ECM.
This RVU is in effect until November 30, 2012. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.
Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:
^ Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 23F2 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.
^ Vehicle must be within the Federal Emissions Warranty.
^ Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.
^ Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.
Technical Background
An ECM software update is required.
Production Solution
For vehicles outside of the specified VIN range, the correct ECM software is already flashed.
Service
Tip: It is not necessary to receive a Repair Authorization to perform this or any other TDI clean diesel TSB.

  1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

  2. Update the ECM using the SVM action code as listed in the table above, if necessary.
