SUBJECT
Illuminated Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) Light
MODEL
R50 (Cooper) and R53 (Cooper S)
SITUATION
Illuminated DSC light with Internal Steering Angle Sensor Fault stored in error memory. Flat Tire Monitor light may also be illuminated.
FAULT CODES
DSC Fault Code 5E43.
Steering Angle Sensor Fault Code 0011.

CAUSE
Steering Angle Sensor has a time out error.
CORRECTION
Install and recode a new Steering Angle Sensor. The new Steering Angle Sensor has been introduced in production since April 2003.
PROCEDURE
1. Install and recode a new Steering Angle Sensor, part number 37 14 6 763 916.
2. Refer to Repair Instructions 32 31 082.
