March 7, 2013.
Vehicle Information
Condition
^ The engine warning light is on after engine replacement.
^ The engine is not running roughly. However, the engine control module, J623 (01), is storing one or more of the following engine misfire fault
codes: DTCs P0300 - P0304.
^ The fault codes occur at light load, between 8% and 14% accelerator pedal position.
Technical Background
The programmed values for the misfiring recognition are not automatically reset by deleting the memory once.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
^ Use Guided Fault Finding (GFF) to clear adaptations: GFF > Powertrain > "Engine Code" > OBD > Engine Electronics, Functions > Resetting
Misfire Adaptations.
^ If the program Resetting Misfire Adaptations" is not available in GFF, delete the entry with the VAS PC tester via the collective services. The
entry must be deleted three times in a row (within 28 seconds) to remove the programmed values.
Tip:
Try to reproduce the condition so that it can be clearly assigned to this bulletin. The model/type and engine code must match exactly. Otherwise, this
solution will not work and repeat repairs may necessary. In such cases, the warranty claim may be rejected.
