Affected Vehicles



Condition



The symbol for dynamic steering is illuminated in the instrument cluster. A DTC for overload, overuse, or steering lock, is stored in the active



steering control module (J792), address word 1B. The environmental conditions displayed in the GFF log match the Technical Background below.



Technical Background



A DTC is stored when the dynamic steering lock does not actuate within the specified time. It may take too long to engage or disengage.

Production Solution



Modified software (SW 0580) and optimized dynamic steering lock magnet.



Service



1. Repair the steering column by installing the repair kit for lock magnet, part 8K0 927 289.



^ On an A4, A5, or Audi Q5 check the software level of the active steering module, address word 1B. Update the 1B module to software level



0580, if necessary, using the table below. If updating from a software level below 0570, the basic settings must be performed after the SVM



update.



^ On the A8 replace only the steering column lock magnet. An SVM update is not necessary on the A8.



SVM Update Instructions



1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.



2. Update the active steering control module (J792) using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.
