Vehicle Information



Condition



^ Steering feels stiff after engine start on vehicles with generation 3 steering.



^ The following entries may be stored:



^ DTC 16344 (14 control unit faulty)



^ DTC 16353 (14 control unit incorrect)



^ DTC 16355 (14 control unit incorrect)



^ DTC 16347 (07 no or wrong basic settings/adaptation)



^ DTC 16347 (14 control unit faulty)

Incorrect software.



Production Solution



New software, 3305.



Service



1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB, 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

2. Update the power steering software using the SVM action code as listed in the table shown, if necessary. The tester may display a note stating



that update programming must be performed on two control modules. The updates should be installed in the order proposed by the tester.



Tip: If the software is below 2901 (for example, 2301 or 2501), update it to 2901 first. Use SVM code 8P44A001 (for A3) or 8J44A001 (for TT).



After updating to 2901, use the SVM chart below to update to the newest software, 3305.



3. After the SVM update, adapt power steering control module, J500 (44), through Guided Fault Finding.



4. Calibrate Steering Angle Sensor G85.
