AFFECTED VEHICLES



CONDITION



This RVU has been proactively released to prevent the following condition from occurring in the vehicle:



All Daytime Running Light (DRL) LEDs in one headlight assembly are inoperative.



This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) is in effect until August 3, 2012. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.



Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:



^ Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 94E7 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.



^ Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.



^ Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR.



^ Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.

SERVICE



Determine DRL control unit and headlight part numbers

1. The left and right headlight part numbers can be found on the part information label located on the headlight (Figure 1 and 2, red arrows).

Remove the air intake duct to better view the right headlight information label (Figure 3, red arrow).



2. To view the DRL control unit part number, open the clip (Figure 4, point 2) in the direction of the arrow.



3. Remove the housing cover (Figure 4, point 1).

4. The module will be located towards the top of the opening (Figure 5, point 3). With the aid of a mirror, look for the part number on the DRL



control unit (Figure 6).



5. Compare both headlight and DRL control unit part numbers. Each headlight part number has a corresponding DRL control unit that is required for



proper operation. Reference the charts above for proper pairs.



6. If a headlight is discovered to have a mismatched DRL control unit, replace the mismatched DRL control unit with the required part number. It is



not necessary to match right and left sides with the same revision, as long as each side has a correctly matched pair.

^ This RVU covers only "F" suffix headlights.



^ If an "AH" headlight is installed in the vehicle and does not have the proper DRL control unit, the proper unit must be ordered via standard



warranty.



If necessary, replace left and/or right DRL control units



"AH" headlights mismatch MUST be claimed under standard warranty.



Tip: DRL control units covered by this RVU are provided in sets of two. Only install the necessary control units from the kit.



1. Ensure ignition is switch off and key removed.



2. Remove luggage compartment floor cover, storage tray, and base box from rear luggage compartment.



3. Fold back the carpet and open the cover to gain access to the battery.



4. Disconnect the battery ground cable.



5. For the left headlight assembly, remove the two DRL control unit mounting screws (Figure 7, points 2 and 4) and remove the control unit.



6. Disconnect the DRL control unit connector (Figure 7, point 1) and remove the control unit.



7. Install new DRL control unit, two mounting screws, and cover.



8. For the right headlight assembly, remove the air filter housing.



9. Remove the two DRL control unit mounting screws (Figure 7, points 2 and 4).



10. Disconnect the DRL control unit connector (Figure 7, point 1) and remove the control unit.



11. Install new DRL control unit, two mounting screws, and cover.



12. Reinstall the air filter housing.



13. Reconnect the battery ground cable.



14. Reinstall the access cover and reposition the carpet.



15. Reinstall the base box, storage tray, and luggage compartment floor cover.

16. If necessary, ensure the power window one touch up/down functions and the clock is set to local time.



17. Check DTC memories of all control modules and erase DTCs.

^ Destroy and properly dispose of removed parts in accordance with local, state and federal/provincial environmental regulations.



^ If you have exhausted your allocated parts and you require additional parts for vehicles affected by this RVU but have exceeded your Upper Order



Limit, please submit your requests for additional parts via email. Be sure to include the affected VINs with your order. Prior to submitting your



request, ensure that each vehicle has the 94E7 code open in ElsaWeb. Your order will be reviewed and processed accordingly.
