Affected Vehicle
Condition
Customer may report a rattle noise from rear of transmission at idle. On manual vehicles, noise may change when clutch is depressed.
Technical Background
The R8 is not equipped with a dual mass flywheel therefore the engine vibrations go directly into the gearbox. The gears which are not engaged will
vibrate and cause a rattling noise. This noise will not affect performance of the vehicle.
Tip: Replacing the transmission will not change this condition.
