AFFECTED VEHICLES
2010 Audi Q5 Quattro (8RB) V6-3.2L (CALB) Page 380
CONDITION
This RVU has been proactively released to prevent the following condition from occurring in the vehicle:
On Audi Q5 vehicles built within a specific period, corrosion may occur on the guard plate underneath the tailgate.
This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) is in effect until August 3, 2012. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.
Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:
^ Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 55F6 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.
^ Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.
^ Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.
^ Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Moisture can enter at the handle recess on the tailgate.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
SERVICE
Tip: If corrosion is already present, perform corrosion repair and claim under warranty.
1. Remove tailgate trim (bottom). (See Repair Manual >> Body >> Body Interior >> 70 Interior Trim >> Removal and Installation >> Rear Lid
Trim).
2. Disconnect harnesses from handle.
3. Remove guard plate (Figure 1, B).

4. Remove nuts from handle (Figure 3, E).
5. Unclip handle pushbutton D (Figure 2, arrow).
6. Fit seal C onto handle pushbutton D.
7. Clip handle pushbutton D back in.
8. Bolt on new guard plate (Figure 1, B). Tighten bolts (Figure 1, A) only hand-tight at this stage.
9. Tighten nuts E (Figure 3, E).
Tightening torque: 6 Nm
10. Then tighten bolts (Figure 1, A).
Tightening torque: 6 Nm
Tip: The reversing camera (if installed) does not have to be adjusted.
11. Connect harnesses to handle.
12. Reinstall tailgate trim.

^ Destroy and properly dispose of removed parts in accordance with local, state and federal/provincial environmental regulations.
^ If you have exhausted your allocated parts and you require additional parts for vehicles affected by this RVU but have exceeded your Upper Order
Limit, please submit your requests for additional parts via email. Be sure to include the affected VINs with your order. Prior to submitting your
request, ensure that each vehicle has the 55F6 code open in ElsaWeb. Your order will be reviewed and processed accordingly.
