Condition
^ Glass of the headlight steamed up. The steaming up occurs even in dry weather.
^ The complaint disappears only after longer journey. With short distance operation, the headlight does not fully clear up.
The illumination performance is not affected.
Technical Background
The xenon headlight on MY 2010 Audi Q7 vehicles clears slowly because of the position of the filter in the ventilation hose. The filter is installed at
the beginning of the hose on the headlight. This position (Figure 1, Point 3) causes humid air to condensate and stay on the filter.
Because the filter is damp even in dry conditions, humidity gets into the headlights and condensates on the cool areas of the glass. A long journey
may be required to clear up the headlights.
If the filter is installed at the end of the hose (Figure 1, Point 1), the humid air can condensate on the walls at the beginning of the hose instead of
being drawn into the filter. Then humid air no longer gets into the headlights.
Production Solution
Installation of the filter at the end of the hose.
Service
 Audi Q7 Quattro 266
1. Remove the upper cover on the bumper (Figure 2) to check the beginning of the hose.
2. If the filter is at the beginning of the hose (Figure 1, Point 3), remove the filter with snipe-nosed pliers.
3. The end of the hose (Figure 1, Point 1) is installed on the lower slide system. Simply pull it out, without removing the headlights.
4. Install the filter about 3 - 4 mm from the hose end (Figure 1, Point 1).
5. Make sure that the filter covers the complete inner diameter of the hose to prevent foreign bodies from entering the headlight (Figure 1, Point 4).
