AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
Slightly reduced performance (especially when lower cetane diesel is used). DTC Stored P13D3 (Sensor for internal pressure of cylinder 2
Implausible signal) and/or, P13DC (Sensor for internal pressure of cylinder 5 Implausible signal). These DTCs should not illuminate the MIL.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
The cylinder pressure sensors contained within the glow plugs of cylinders 2 and 5 can develop carbon deposits during normal combustion. The
sensors will read incorrectly and set a DTC.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Updated software which will automatically clean the pressure sensors via a special heating strategy.
SERVICE
Perform a visual check of the combination glow plug/pressure sensor. Ensure the electrical connection to the affected sensor is in order.
If nothing unusual is found, replace the affected glow plug sensor. See Repair Manual >> Engine >> Fuel Injection and Glow Plug >> 28
Ignition/Glow Plug System >> Removal and Installation.
