AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
^ Sirius Satellite radio receiver has prematurely deactivated.
^ There is no audio output, and in most cases the radio can only be tuned to channels 0 or 184.
^ DTC 02635 (Turner not enabled or activated) may be logged in the fault memory of the satellite radio receiver (address word 0F - Radio Tuner
digital, Sirius). In cars with an embedded SDARS tuner (such as the B8 or any vehicle with MMI 3G/3G+), the DTC may be logged in the radio
(address word 56, Radio).
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
The satellite radio receiver is not malfunctioning. It has been deactivated due to a timed-out signal received from Sirius, or the trial period has ended.
Beginning model year 2008, all receivers except A4 models are factory preactivated (FPO). A4 sedan and Avant models will be FPO beginning
model year 2009.
When the vehicle is delivered to the customer, a 3-month trial period begins. The exception is the 2008 Special
Edition A4 vehicles, which have a 12-month trial period.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
1. Have the 12-digit receiver ESN number available.
^ On vehicles equipped with Symphony or Concert radios, the ESN can be seen in the radio display when tuned to channel 0.
^ On vehicles equipped with MMI or Navigation plus (RNS-E), the ESN can be seen in the satellite radio setup menu.
2. Turn the radio on, and position the vehicle outside with a clear view to the sky and away from any buildings.
3. Reactivate the satellite receiver through the Sirius dealer support line.
After the trial period has ended, the customer has the option to purchase a follow-on service plan. When tuned to Sirius, the radio screen will display
a message informing the customer to call Sirius and subscribe.
