Condition
When replacing a control arm or wheel bearing housing (swivel bearing), additional parts must be replaced, due to supersession of service parts.
Technical Background
Due to further technical development, new design control arms were implemented during 2011 production. Control arms and axle joint journals with
diameter M14 (previously M12) are now fitted to all production vehicles.
Production Solution
Change of axle joint journals and mounting of wheel bearing housings from M12 to M14 diameter during 2011 production.

Service
When replacing a control arm or wheel bearing housing, change all control arms and both wheel bearing housings on the affected axle.
The required parts are shown when entering the VIN in ETKA.
Be sure to start with the service procedures as if replacing an upper or lower transverse link, which begins with a measurement of the vehicle's curb
height. For example, as found in ELSA Web> Repair Manual> Chassis> Suspension, Wheels, Steering > Front Suspension> Removal and
Installation > Upper Transverse Link with Retaining Bracket As explained in ELSA Web, it is essential to simulate the curb height when
reassembling the suspension links with bonded rubber bushings.
For vehicles outside of warranty, create a TAC ticket and attach clear digital photos for assessment of the concern and additional instruction.
After review, the new axle components may be installed. The additional parts needed due to service part supersession, may be covered under
warranty, see the special claim instructions below. The customer may only be responsible for the repairs related to the original concern.
