What would a proper high-performance coupe be without a roadster variant? The
S5 Cabriolet is the answer here. The formula is simple: remove the coupe's hard
top and replace it with soft top convertible. There are a few differences
between the cabriolet and coupe. For starters, the former is not available with
the 4.2-liter V8. Instead, only the newer 3.0-liter V6 is offered. This is the
same engine offered in the S4 sedan so it's definitely no dinosaur.
As a result of the different engine, horsepower is also slightly lower, down
to 333. The other significant difference is that there's only one transmission
offered: the seven-speed S-Tronic dual clutch unit. While there are some power
and performance differences, it's hard to beat the al fresco option the
cabriolet offers.
