March 8, 2011.
Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 69 number 10 - 14 dated November 17, 2010 for reasons listed below.
2010 Audi Q5 Quattro (8RB) V6-3.2L (CALB) Page 371
AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
After replacing the Comfort System control unit (J393), the control unit cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
All new replacement Comfort System control units (J393) must be coded and parameterized using online SVM spec/actual or an SVM code. If the
SVM spec/actual returns a response of "Check Hardware", then the SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new replacement control
unit.
The SVM code can be found in Parts Bulletin 9-90. All parts bulletins are located on the ETKAinfo.com website. The link to ETKAinfo.com is
indicated by the icon seen in Figure 1.
Once the icon is selected, the ETKAinfo.com website will be automatically opened. From there the user must select the tab labeled "Infoline".
Alternatively, the EKTAKinfO.com website can be found by selecting Service >> Infoline under the ETKA drop down menu.

This particular parts bulletin includes previous SVM Codes for exchanging a Comfort System control unit (J393) in early A5 modules, which are
also listed in the SVM code table above.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
When replacing the Comfort System control unit (J393), online coding and parameterization must first be attempted using an SVM spec/actual
comparison. If the SVM spec/actual returns a response of "Check Hardware", then it is possible one of the SVM codes listed below is required to
code and parameterize the new replacement control unit.
Tip: No main software update is performed during this SVM communication!
^ If the vehicle is a 2008 MY A5/S5 with an original control unit part number of "8K0907289*, then the 8T46U002 and 8T46U003 SVM codes
must be performed in sequence, with the 8T46A002 code being performed first. After the completion of the first SVM code, 8T46U002, execute
SVM code 8T46U003. positive SVM response must be returned before the 2nd SVM code can be executed.
^ If the vehicle is not a 2008 MY A5/S5: Only the SVM Exchange Code is required (XCHG46A001).
^ If the vehicle is a 2008 MY A5/S5 with part number 8K0907064*: The SVM Exchange Code may be required (XCHG46A001).
